Sometimes it fucks me and some squad mates die but sometimes I find some new strategy where I'm just like "well here is my go to for this enemy".Īll and all, great game. I feel like playing around with skill combinations/tactics more. I don't feel like I really ever utilized the entirety of the skills in X-Com:EU. Scenario's feel urgent, I feel like I care about my squad and their skills more. Now that I'm pretty far in, I'm actually suprised to say I think I like X-Com 2 better. I realized that I probably should have just let the game be like "game over, you fucked it up this time" and started anew like 8 hours ago. Being able to manage my resources better really helped too. I still felt challanged but I didn't feel like I was fucked from the get go. Immediately, my second playthrough felt different. Half way through things weren't going well so I said fuck it, and started a a second playthrough. I was getting annhilated or just plain savescumming when things got desperate.
Upon my first playthrough, I was starting to feel that way.
AFTER I DOWNLOAD XCOM 2 WOTC MODS WHY DOES IT RUN SO SLOW MOD
Supression plus makes supression act more like EU and the improved AI mods make the Advent harder to take on, to counter that I did take the mod that canceled the squadsight aim penalty as I don't think snipers should be penalized for doing the one thing they should be good at.Īdd to that some great quality of life mods and customization mods and I can't get enough of XCOM2. There are so many great mods to make the game more fun too. I have some incredibly fun multiple pod activations on my current Commander run, most of which I have escaped without a death (one catastrophic mission had 3 deaths) and either way they have been fun as hell.Īs far as the time wasting and voice over, just get the Quiet Bradford and Stop Wasting my Time mods, along with the Enemy Unknown dice roll mod to separate the hit, critical and dodge rolls and most of your problems are solved. I love the timers as you actually have to use tactics now, instead of just moving 2 tiles and waiting for the xenon to walk into your overwatch. I think it's the most fun game I have played since my first Long War run. You fail, until you learn the game mechanics enough to succeed. To me, this feeling is a lot like the original X-Com. I usually try to make decisions that will end the mission by the fourth to last turn because of it. But I know to expect to be thrown for a loop on every timed evac mission I do. I restarted ironman after that, and I still resent the game mechanic. Once I went to the third remaining turn, the evac point became 'compromised' and was re-positioned to a place where it was literally impossible to get any of my remaining crew there in time. I happened to have one guy at the evac zone that I got out of there at that point. I had an evac mission where all the enemies between my squad and the evac point were dead at the end of the fourth turn. I think the key is, to have those events be as rare as possible.Īlso be aware of the the bullshit game mechanics. You're right, bad games are very difficult to turn around, because if you lose your crew early, or even a key member, it's like you're working at a higher difficulty for the rest of the game. But, ultimately, if you keep up with your missions, and keep the research & production trees going efficiently, it's usually more than enough to make sure your crew is always prepared. For me, it was super frustrating to lose all my soldiers in a scenario of seemingly impossible bad luck.
